It will without a doubt bring to a few millions dollars of misfortunes and to certain negative monetary results. An extraordinary number of our mainstream programs, including the shows of Conan O'Brien and Jay Leno, just as numerous different shows which are communicated in our best TV systems, for example, NBC, ABC, CBS or Fox, are as of now having issues with discovering great content composing work force. In addition, creation of mainstream TV arrangement (counting Prison Break, 24, Lost, CSI, Desperate Housewives and others) must be ended and delayed. I bolster the situation of the Writers Guilds in light of the fact that making a decent enrapturing content is a key component of making top notch fascinating shows or motion pictures, and when the essayists are not content with the remuneration they get, nothing but bad TV or film items can be made. Consequently, such center law based an incentive as equity and being reasonable for others must be considered. Moreover, as indicated by the data pitched, the scholars have not just monetary requests to be met. The combinations consistently attempt to paint us as irrational and antagonistic. Our recommendations basically attempt to guarantee that essayists stay aware of the business' development. That is reasonable and sensible. We assume that others agree it is wrong to lie, steal, and manipulate others for our own gain. It can come as a shock, then, when you eventually cross paths in your life with someone who shatters that perception. In some cases, this person may be a narcissistic sociopathâ€"a person with a unique combination of traits that causes them to leave behind a trail of destruction in their personal and professional lives. 1:24 How to Identify a Malignant Narcissist While there is no official diagnosis of narcissistic sociopath, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) recognizes two disorders that may be present to form this constellation of traits: narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) and antisocial personality disorder (APD). People who have aspects of both of these personality disorders could be considered narcissistic sociopaths. Most people assume that they would know a narcissist or sociopath if they met one, but these people are not always easy to identify. Some people may show traits of a narcissistic sociopathâ€"however, its important to note that only when the patterns of behavior are severe and interfere in his/her life and the lives of those around this person would he/she potentially be considered to have a personality disorder. Verywell / Brianna Gilmartin   Diagnosing the Narcissistic Sociopath In order to arrive at the conclusion that a person is a narcissistic sociopath, it would be necessary for them to be diagnosed with aspects of both narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder. These two personality disorders are both a part of the Cluster B group in the DSM-5. In general terms, a personality disorder refers to unhealthy and rigid patterns of thinking and behaving that impair social, work, and school functioning. Most people with personality disorders do not realize that they have a problem and blame others for the issues that they create themselves. DSM-5 Criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder Narcissistic personality disorder  is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, according to the DSM-5. In addition, five or more from the following list of DSM-5 criteria need to be present for an official diagnosis. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (exaggerates achievements and abilities)Preoccupied with dreams of unlimited power, success, physical attractiveness, and loveHolds the belief that he is of special or high status and can only be understood by similar people or should only associate with those people (or institutions)Has a need for excessive admirationPossesses a sense of entitlement and expects favorable treatment or complianceExploits other people to achieve personal goalsLacks empathy regarding the needs and feelings of other peopleIs envious of other people or think other people envy himHas arrogant behaviors and attitudes People with this disorder may monopolize conversations and look down on people whom they feel are inferior to them.   They will take advantage of you to get what they want, no matter who gets hurt along the way. Individuals with NPD live with many negative outcomes of their personality disorder. Some examples of the problems that they face include the following: Trouble handling criticismEasily become impatient or angry if they dont think they are being treated correctlyFeel easily slighted and may have relationship problemsTry to belittle others or react with rage to make themselves seem superiorHave trouble regulating their behavior and emotionsTrouble adapting to change and dealing with stressCan become depressed if they fall short of what they feel is idealSecretly feel insecure, vulnerable, and humiliated and have fragile self-esteem DSM-5 Criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder Antisocial personality disorder  is a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others, occurring since age 15 years, according to the DSM-5. In addition, an individual must show at least three of the following: The repeated failure to follow social norms resulting in grounds for arrestEngaging in deceitfulness (lying, using aliases, not paying off debts)Impulsivity and not planning ahead; moving around constantlyIrritability and aggressiveness (resulting in physical fights/assaults)Reckless disregard or concern for the safety of other peopleChronic irresponsibility reflected by a continued failure to maintain a job, finish school or stay on top of financial commitmentsLack of remorse about hurting others (indifferent or rationalizes) The individual must be at least 18 years old and have had evidence of a conduct disorder by age 15. The Narcissistic Sociopath Now that we have a picture of narcissistic personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder, we can start to construct an understanding of what it means to be a narcissistic sociopath. In order for someone to fall into this category, they would need to be diagnosed with both features of NPD and APD. A picture starts to emerge of a person who lacks empathy as they go about their daily lives. Narcissism intensifies with qualities of APD (or sociopathy) to worsen outcomes. A sociopathic narcissist will be cold and callous but will also be seeking the admiration of others (and will believe that he deserves it). He will have a disdain for people and think its okay to exploit and dispose of others in whatever way it helps him to get ahead. While a sociopath doesnt think about other people unless they can benefit her in some way, a narcissist only thinks of others in terms of how they reflect back on her. When you put these two qualities together, a picture emerges of a person on a quest for power and control, who uses the love and admiration of others as a tool to dominate and manipulate, and who goes about all of this thinking that it is his right and that he is justified. There will be no guilt, no apologies, and no remorse coming from the narcissistic sociopath. Even if these behaviors land this person in trouble, or worse, in prisonâ€"he wont stop. After all, its all just a game and the people are pawns. When he gets tired of those people or they arent serving a useful role in his life (his game) anymore, then he will cast them aside. A narcissist without APD might have some ability to feel guilt or remorse and may be able to be helped with appropriate psychotherapy. A narcissistic sociopath, however, is unlikely to feel those emotions or be helped in a genuine way through psychotherapy. Therapy is a game to be manipulated and the therapist is a pawn. The Prototypical Narcissistic Sociopath What would a prototypical narcissistic sociopath look like? While there are variations in the severity of symptoms, we can start to assemble a picture that will help you to identify these people in real life. Most likely, youve encountered these types of people in news reports. You may see them associated with serial killings or financial scandals. The prison population is composed of a large percentage of these individuals (70 percent in prison versus .2 to 3.3 percent in the general population for APD). At the less severe end of the spectrum, you might find these individuals climbing the corporate ladder (but stepping on people to get there) or holding positions of power in local and national government, as frightening as that might be. The scariest part is that people with this disorder will be hard to spot. They may be polished, well-dressed, successful, and charming. They may take part in charitable causes or charitable activities, not because they care, but because it makes them look good. To the outside observer, it might be hard to tell the difference. In particular, people with money and privilege with these disorders may be particularly hard to spot. A narcissistic sociopathic business owner might default on debts or misrepresent what the company is selling. Some will be physically aggressive while others may be harmful on an emotional level. Regardless of the harm that they do, these people believe they are exempt from the moral code that everyone else follows, which is what makes them so dangerous and so difficult to spot. Causes While we dont know the exact causes of NPD or APD, it is believed that environment, genetics, and neurobiology play a role. These disorders are more common in males than females and begin in the teenage/early adult years. This makes it likely that some aspect of their upbringing or early environment, or even later stressors, combined with a genetic predisposition or biology, leads to a disorder. Traits Shared by Narcissists and Sociopaths What are the traits shared by narcissists and sociopaths? They may both be charismatic and charming, unreliable, controlling, selfish, and dishonest. They both have a sense of entitlement and deny responsibility for their actions. They usually lack insight into their personality disorder, lack empathy, and lack emotional responsiveness. Narcissists vs. Sociopaths What are the differences between narcissists and sociopaths? While in this article we are considering the case of a person diagnosed with a combination of these, it can also be useful to consider where they diverge rather than simply where they overlap. In general, we consider that the driving force behind the two disorders differs. In the case of the narcissist, the persons ego is always at stake, and this drives many of their behaviors. On the other hand, sociopaths are always driven by their self-interest, may be cunning, and take on whatever persona gets them ahead in the moment. Sociopaths are more like classic con artists, while narcissists are more like hurt children lashing out and faking superiority to hide inner pain. Classic sociopaths are not trying to impress you to build up their own ego; rather, they will only try to impress you if it serves a purpose in their greater plan. They are less likely to brag than narcissists. Instead, the sociopath is more likely to bestow compliments on you and center the conversation around you to get you to like them (and get you to do what they want). Sociopaths are more calculating while narcissists are more reactive. Sociopaths might even apologize or put themselves down if it serves some greater purpose in the game they are playing. Narcissists work to achieve success while exploiting others, while sociopaths will steal and exploit others, taking any risks necessary to fit their agenda. Treatment for Narcissistic Sociopaths Is there a treatment for narcissistic sociopaths? Unfortunately, the effectiveness of the treatment depends on the level of insight a person has. While talk therapy can be used for narcissistic personality disorder, a person who also is a sociopath isnt likely to benefit from therapy, as their goal will be to manipulate the therapist. However, if the person falls closer to NPD than APD, talk therapy may be of help. Narcissists generally dont seek treatment on their own unless they are experiencing extreme stress or depression, substance abuse problems, or their partner insists. People with APD (sociopaths) may be put in court-ordered therapy but arent likely to seek treatment on their own as they dont believe they have a problem. Therapy for NPD often focuses on techniques to facilitate a more resilient sense of self-esteem. However, it can be hard for them to follow through on treatment because it is common for them to perceive the whole process as insulting to their self-esteem. At the same time, people with NPD are dependent on others and are less likely to leave relationships than those with APD. They often have families and children and may be amenable to change if the right balance can be struck with the therapist. Coping How do you know youve met a narcissistic sociopath or if there is one in your life? The following list of characteristics might be helpful. Does the person: Constantly make you feel like you are the problem, not them?Punish you with criticism or silence?Seem to get you to take responsibility for their errors or insults?Make you feel special and shower you with attention but then withdraw it for no reason?Obsess about their physical appearance and need compliments? Unfortunately, narcissistic sociopaths are good at finding the right people to manipulate. They know that you are trusting. They know you will make excuses for their bad behavior because you dont want to see it for what it really is. However, if your gut is sending you signals and youre brushing off feelings of anger, distrust, and fear, there is probably a good reason. This is known as cognitive dissonance. You want to believe that this person you know is as good as they appear, even though you know it all seems too good to be true. The first step to dealing with this person is to stop reinterpreting the facts. Dont give someone with a narcissistic sociopathic personality the benefit of the doubt. Youre a good, trusting person who wants to see the good in othersâ€"thats understandable. This may make it hard for you to see clearly. You might also be in a disadvantaged social or financial position that impairs your ability to fight back. Most importantly, however, if the relationship is abusive, you must find a way to leave. If there is no abuse, you can set boundaries, build your assertiveness, and set limits, but you cant change the other person. Its not an easy decision whether to stay or go. Gain awareness and help from others and confront the situation with as much logic and rational thought as you can muster. Fighting or arguing with the narcissistic sociopath wont help and will only make things worse. A Word From Verywell If you know someone who fits the criteria for a narcissistic sociopath, it is important to recognize that its unlikely that person will change or seek help. Your best option is to arm yourself with knowledge, set strong boundaries, and distance yourself from the person as much as possible. If you find yourself in an abusive relationship with someone displaying these qualities, it is important to find a safe way to leave. Setting Healthy Boundaries

Vladimir Zworykin, Father of the Television

Vladimir Zworykin (July 30, 1889–July 29, 1982) is often called the father of television, but he never accepted that, stating that he shared credit with many others such as David Sarnoff. Among his 120 patents are two instruments that were critical to the development of television: the iconoscope camera tube and the kinescope picture tube.   Fast Facts: Vladimir Zworykin Known For: Called the Father of Television for his work on the iconoscope camera tube and the kinescope picture tubeBorn: July 30, 1889 in Murom, Russia.Parents: Kosma A. and Elana ZworykinDied: July 29, 1982 in Princeton, New JerseyEducation:  Petrograd Institute of Technology (electrical engineering, 1912), Ph.D, University of Pittsburg 1926Published Works: More than 100 technical papers, five books, 120 patentsAwards: 29 awards, including the National Medal of Science in 1966Spouse(s): Tatania Vasilieff (1916–1951), Katherine Polevitsky (1951–1982)Children: Elaine and Nina, with his first wifeNotable Quote: I hate what theyve done to my child†¦I would never let my own children watch it. (on his feelings about television) Early Life Vladimir Kosma Zworykin was born on July 30, 1889, the youngest of surviving seven (from the original 12) children of Kosma A. and Elana Zworykin of Murom, Russia. The well-to-do merchant family was dependent on Kosmas role as the owner of a wholesale grain business and a successful steamship line. In 1910, Vladimir entered the St. Petersburg Institute of Technology, where he studied electrical engineering under Boris Rosing and saw his first television. Rosing, a professor in charge of laboratory projects, tutored Zworykin and introduced his student to experiments of transmitting pictures by wire. Together they experimented with a very early cathode-ray tube, developed in Germany by Karl Ferdinand Braun. Rosing and Zworykin exhibited a television system in 1910 using a mechanical scanner in the transmitter and the electronic Braun tube in the receiver. After graduating in 1912, Zworykin entered the College de France in Paris, studying x-rays under Paul Langevin, but the studies were interrupted in 1914 with the outbreak of World War I. He then returned to Russia and worked as an officer with the Russian Signal Corps.   Leaving Russia Zworkyin married Tatania Vasilieff on April 17, 1916, and they eventually had two daughters, Nina Zworykin (born 1920) and Elaine Zworykin Knudsen (born 1924). When the Bolshevik Revolution broke out in 1917, Zworykin was working at the Russian Marconi company. Rosing disappeared in the chaos, the Zworykin family home in Murom was seized by revolutionary forces, and Zworykin and his wife fled Russia, making two trips around the world before settling down in the United States in 1919.  He briefly worked as a bookkeeper in the Russian Embassy before joining Westinghouse at East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1920. Westinghouse At Westinghouse, he worked on a number of projects from gunnery controls to electronically controlled missiles and automobiles, but his most important were the kinescope picture tube (the cathode-ray tube) in 1923 and then the iconoscope camera tube, a tube for television transmission used in the first cameras in 1924. Zworykin was one of the first to demonstrate a television system with all the features of modern picture tubes. He became a U.S. citizen in 1924, and in 1926 he obtained a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh with a dissertation on a method of greatly improving the sensitization of photocells. On November 18, 1929, at a convention of radio engineers, Zworykin demonstrated a television receiver containing his kinescope and obtained his first patent associated with color television. Radio Corporation of America In 1929, Zworykin was transferred by Westinghouse to work for the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in Camden, New Jersey, as the new director of the Electronic Research Laboratory and at the invitation of RCAs president, David Sarnoff, a fellow Russian emigre. RCA owned most of Westinghouse at that time and had just bought the C.F. Jenkins Television Company, makers of mechanical television systems, in order to receive their patents. Zworykin made improvements to his iconoscope, and RCA funded his research to the tune of $150,000. The further improvements allegedly used an imaging section which was similar to Philo Farnsworths patented dissector. Patent litigation forced RCA to start paying Farnsworth royalties. 1930s and 1940s By the mid-1930s, Zworykin worked on his own projects and provided leadership for an extensive number of young scientists. He became intrigued by early work on the electron microscope, and he set up a lab and hired Canadian James Hillier, who had built a prototype as a graduate student, to develop one for RCA. During World War II, Zworykin had input into airborne television that was used to guide radio-controlled torpedoes and a device that helped blind people read. His laboratories were tapped to work on stored-program technology for the early computers, and he explored—but didnt have much success with—self-driven cars. In 1947, Sarnoff promoted Zworykin to vice president and technical consultant to the RCA laboratories. Death and Legacy In 1951, Zworykins wife Tatania Vasilieff, from whom he had been separated for better than a decade, divorced him, and he married long-time friend Katherine Polevitsky. He was forced to retire at 65 from RCA in 1954 but continued supporting and developing research, serving as director of the Medical Electronics Center at the Rockefeller Institute in New York. In his lifetime, Zworykin authored more than 100 technical papers, wrote five books, and received 29 awards. Among them was the National Medal of Science—the highest scientific honor in the United States—which President Lyndon Johnson presented to Zworykin in 1966 â€Å"for major contributions to the instruments of science, engineering, and television, and for his stimulation of the applications of engineering to medicine.† In retirement, he was a founder and the first president of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering; he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1977. Vladimir Zworykin died on July 29, 1982, one day shy of his 93rd birthday, at the Princeton (New Jersey) Medical Center. Sources Abramson, Albert. Vladimir Zworykin, Pioneer of Television. Essay on General George Washington and The Continental Army

The American Revolution was a great time of change for America as a nation. With this change new heroes and ideals of life, liberty, and freedom were formed. Spearheading these new ideals was General George Washington and his continental army, but the road ahead of Washington and his men was not an unproblematic one. The winter at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania proved this to Washington and his men. Yet the true American ideal of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were never forgotten in their battle. General George Washington gained command of the continental army in July 3, 1775 from the directions of General Artemus Ward who said, â€Å"The Continental Congress having now taken all the Troops of the several Colonies, which have been†¦show more content†¦Valley Forge atop such a high plateau was near completely cut off from supply routes making food, clothing, and weaponry very scarce. Soldiers were treated to the worst conditions possible at Valley Forge. Many were near naked and many were starving to death. Also dieses such as Dysentery and Typhus ran rampant at Valley Forge. These conditions alone accounted for the lives of hundreds of American soldiers that winter. Yet in early spring at Valley Forge General Nathanel Greene was appointed quartermaster. Conditions for the members of the continental army greatly improved. Food was in abundance as well as clothing and soldiers took full advantage of it. While the American soldiers were very valiant, they lacked the discipline and skills of a true army. This soon changed will the arrival of Baron Von Stueben. Von Stueben quickly turned the continental army into a true â€Å"army.† Leaving Valley Forge Washington and his men had a renewed sense of patriotism. Normal vs. Abnormal Behavior free essay sample

Normal vs. Abnormal Behavior PSY/202 Normal vs. Abnormal Behavior What is normal behavior? Normal behavior differs from one person to the next. It may be normal for one person to talk to themselves while another person finds this abnormal. To me, normal behavior is dealing with each day as it comes. Most people have a routine they follow. This could be going to work and being productive, staying home doing chores, or in school learning new things. Normality is an individual preference. If a person does not agree with something it does not make it wrong. Society, on the other hand, has its own idea of normal behavior. It was once considered abnormal for people of color to marry Caucasians, or two people of the same gender getting married. Over time things and ideas change, what was once considered abnormal is now accepted. Abnormality: Inability to function effectively. This definition explains that if a person cannot hold a job or interact socially with others they are not productive members of society which makes them abnormal. We will write a custom essay sample on Normal vs. Abnormal Behavior or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Abnormality: A sense of personal discomfort.

Moving Through Change Essays - Innovation, Climate Change

Moving Through Change Brandon Spelling May 12, 2000 Essay for Exam III Moving Through Change Common people have been through many changes in history such as technological change, economic change, and political change. Common people define history as a period of change. Technology will always change history for the common people as time goes on. Technological advancements in medicine have contributed to change. Many diseases such as smallpox, measles, cholera, plague and influenza were fatal. The changes in technology have made these fatal diseases disappear. For example, the invention of penicillin and a better understanding of microbiology have advanced Western medicine and public health that tackled these fatal diseases around the world. Millions of people hoped that the new drugs and medical technologies would give them better health and longer lives. Since the technological changes have been around the population in the around the world has increased drastically. For example the new generations can expect to live twenty years longer than their parents generation and newborns could live their lives all the way through the entire twenty-first century. This is why I believe that the common people define history as a period of change. Economic change will also change history for the common people as time goes on. Communication and business cross national boundaries; global politics are increasingly driven by global economics. For example as economics change through time new markets and economic technologies begin to transform peoples lives around the world. People born today, are born into a world which has been fundamentally transformed by economic change. Millions of people can now obtain a level of affluence once reserved for the privileged few, and their futures will depend less on individual effort and creativity. This is why I believe that the common people define history as a period of change. Political change will also change history for the common people as time goes on. Political change has brought about political revolts around the world. For example in Europe students rioted and demonstrated for greater freedom against the rigid values of their parent's generation. There was also change in the United States. For example in the United States, Civil Rights Movement, fear of nuclear annihilation, and the Vietnam War was hearting a new generation on the nations college campuses. This was putting a vigorous new youth culture against the government's political decisions. Some students took to rebellion and others dropped out turning towards alternative life styles. Under pressure the government finally had the troops withdraw from Vietnam. With the end of the war, the stormy adolescence of a rebellious generation finally calmed down. Change can go up and go down, ordinary people have the power and the right to challenge the authority and change the world. This is another re ason why I believe that the common people define history as a period of change. Common people define history as a period of change. Change can be good in some cases and it can be bad. We would not have history if we did not have change. We need change in our lives with out it we would be board. Change helps us live from day to day with out change we would not survive. History Reports

How to Write a Classic English Literature Term Paper with Ease

How to Write a Classic English Literature Term Paper with Ease A term paper in the sphere of literature is usually written to present a certain view or interpretation. But that’s not the only goal. While creating a literary research, you also need to convince the readers that your theory is not a puff, but a valuable speculation that can contribute to a particular subject matter. But we doubt that you think about all these goals when you receive a task to produce a classic English literature term paper. The amount of text you need to generate as well as the near deadline fill up your mind and distract you from taking into account the details which can cost you a good mark. And you don’t want to do a considerable chunk of work and, then, because of the wrong format or weak arguments get downgraded, do you? But we are here to prevent such a case scenario – we have built up an exhaustive guide on classic English literature term paper writing in order for you to have all the important information in one place. Just skim our article and see it for yourself – we’ve included tips on data search, topic selection, structuring, outlining and style hints. These are the most significant subjects you need to look into before starting a term paper, so use our guide to do just that, and we’ll do our best to provide you with plain and precise information. The Art of Choosing a Perfect Topic for a Literature Term Paper Well, this is surely one of the hardest parts of writing any academic paper. However, selecting a topic for a literature term piece can be simplified a bit by the fact that almost everybody has a favorite author or book. It means that you already have a starting point which saves a great deal of time. So, you can take a fiction or nonfiction story that you have already read and know well, and make up your mind regarding the aspect you want to research. And while deciding on that one, we advise you to ask yourself these questions whenever you have a topic in mind: Do I actually like the topic? It is essential to select the subject that is interesting to you. Why? Because it will influence your enthusiasm and thoroughness – the more curious and challenged you will feel about getting to the bottom, the more profound your research will be. Is it original? You might want to choose a subject that nobody or at least not a lot of scholars have explored to have enough room for manoeuvre. Moreover, your professor would better read and consider something new which will add up to the positive impression. Is there enough material to research it? This questions may contradict our first point a bit, but if you end up with a completely new topic and there is no information that may help you, the term paper quest may be above your bend or take too much time. So, consider your priorities and don’t overestimate your abilities. Can I contribute to my field of studies? Determine whether your topic bears any value to the research of the literary work you focus on. It is very important because you need to be able to explain the significance of your term paper. Does it appeal to the audience? As your first concern should be the level of your interest in the topic, it is also important to consider whether it is readable and â€Å"entertaining† for the audience. Your supervisor is a simple human being with the same habits, reflections and emotions. So, if he/she gets engaged while reading your term paper, it will 100% positively impact your grade. These questions will assist you not only in topic selection, but also in polishing the final variant of the subject you want to examine. Treat this procedure critically and dig at every controversial or vague answer because if you don’t do it at this stage, it will backfire during actual writing. So, respond to the questions wisely. Primary and Secondary Sources: Search and Preparation Basics In an English literature term paper you are going to analyze some kind of text (e.g. novel, short story, article, biography, etc.) which is considered a primary source. Hence, all the other references that you will make in your writing will address secondary sources because they will contain secondhand information about your main topic. However, you may explore other concepts related to the literature work in focus, and, of course, there also may be primary sources. Whether there is or there is no need to separate your works cited list into 2 different parts, clear it out with your professor. In the meanwhile, we’ll tell you how to find the top information for a literature term paper: Literature handbooks: these are specialized guides that will provide you with field-related data (e.g. The Oxford Companion to English Literature, The Cambridge Guide to Literature in English, etc.); University library: there you will be able to find papers written by the professors of your department, and if you use their research findings in your term paper, it will be a great plus to the overall image of your work; Bibliographies: when you choose the topic and approve it with your supervisor, ask for the most important works in the selected subject matter – then, use the recommended sources, i.e. their bibliographies, to find relevant authors/articles; Online scientific search engines: it’s inappropriate to take unknown articles created by anonymous writers from the Internet, but it’s acceptable enough to find sources in search engines designed for academic purposes (e.g. Google Scholar, JSTOR, EBSCO, etc.) After you find enough information for your term paper, it is necessary to process all the sources to gain maximum value from them. In order to do that in the best way possible, you may: Sort everything out according to the aspect they are related to; Read carefully through the important sources and skim less significant ones to save time; Compare all the writers’ statements with your own assumptions and make conclusions; Form new judgments after processing all the data and analyze how they have changed from your initial opinions. These steps will help you to review all the materials closely and not to lose any important details. So, use our instructions to handle the sources. How to Arrange the Structure of a Classic English Literature Term Paper After choosing the topic and working through the sources that you have, you need to think about planning your actual writing, and outlining is the best way to do it most effectively. But before we proceed to different drafting techniques, you need to know the typical structure of a literary term paper. We will stop on each part separately to cover all the details and give you as much significant information as possible. Title Page The first page of you writing work should be formatted according to the citation style you need to follow, and must contain your university name, department, class types, supervisor/professor, your name, paper title, submission date and winter/summer term. Table of Contents This part has to show the reader the internal structure of the paper – chapters, subchapters together with the relevant page numbers. Works cited and introduction should also be included while the title pager and table of contents are not enumerated. Introduction While in the essay you need to produce an introduction the size of a paragraph, in the term paper the introduction should be almost the size of an essay. There are many important elements that it should consist of: Topic explanation and problems it raises; The limits of your research (define the scope of your exploration); The value of the questions you will answer in your work; Methods used to analyze the information; Your strategy applied to respond to the questions; Planned targets; Etc. In short, you need to present a brief overview of everything you will write about in the term paper. The task is not easy, but pretty much doable if you dedicate enough time to its completion. Main Body This is exactly the place to include all your chapters and subchapters. Each of them will consist of a small introduction, main text and specific conclusion. But the main things to remember while dealing with the biggest part of your literature term paper are that you must answer all the questions that you posed in the intro, and prove your thesis statement. Conclusion Provide your readers with a concise summary of information that has come out of your answers and research. Don’t forget to discuss different applications of the results of your research (how your findings are useful for the field of study) as well as mention other perspectives for the further exploration. As for the works cited, make sure that you’ve taken into account all the formatting details while organizing the referencing list. 3 Best Outlining Techniques to Go for When You Need to Plan Your Writing Outlining is a draft of your future table of contents, and it is crucial for a quicker creation of your term paper. Without a step-by-step plan you will get distracted from the process because you will simply need to invent ideas for writing. But with an outline of any sort you will have a clear direction with hints that will assist you in dealing with topics that must be covered. So, there are 3 best outlining types that are most suitable for literature term papers, and they are: Temporal – you take notes about the beginning (introduction, first chapters, etc.), climax (the most significant part where you lay all the cards on the table) and end (finishing chapters and conclusion). Logical – take all the facts that you discovered during your research, analyze their causes and aftermaths. Rhetorical – you build a kind of mind map where your starting point is your topic (general subject). You divide it into smaller parts and draw connections between them, or do it vice versa. No matter which technique you will choose, make sure that you make notes as detailed as possible so that you won’t need to return to the sources just to understand what you’ve written. Additional Stylistic Tips to Polish a Term Paper in Literature When you have done all the preparations, there are no more excuses to postpone the writing process. Further on, the success of you writing assignment depends purely on you, and we have done everything possible to show you the right way and tune you in the proper mood. In the end, we would like to give you the stylistic tips that will be really helpful in refining your term paper. Here you go! Avoid being sarcastic or ironic because besides the fact that it can be inappropriate, it will add no value to your research. Make sure your sentences are of proper length – this one is quite hard to determine, but the main criteria are that the sentences must be not too long and not too short. Read them out loud and if you lose the thread of sense while reading them, divide the long sentences/constructions. Create one paragraph for one thought – don’t try to discuss many statements in one piece because it will be hard to perceive. Don’t stuff your writing with specialized terms or foreign lexemes just to look smarter; firstly, you can use them in the wrong sense, secondly, your aim is to lay out the material in an understandable manner, and those terms will not serve you well in this. Stay away from the informal language, colloquial phrases or contractions – this is an academic style, so don’t forget about it. Use present tense to express your thoughts, talk about the research and state of affairs; minimize the past tense in your writing. Don’t leave the titles of next chapters at the bottom of the previous pages – write them on new pages. We hope that our pieces of advice, hints and suggestions will help you score the grade that you hope for. We wish you luck and patience to dedicate enough hours for this writing assignment. Leading Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Leading - Essay Example Leaders see a vision and communicate that vision to their followers or subordinates. They focus on tomorrow rather than today. They inspire action and change. They are characterized by their people’s skills, their ability to motivate and get the last ounce of effort from their staff in time of crisis (McGovern, et. al 2008). On the other hand, they frequently dislike detail and routine, and can appear wildly disorganized to their colleagues. Leaders are optimistic, self-motivated, persuasive, convincing and goal oriented personnel. They are needed in all workplaces because of their ability to lead and to motivate the employees in different times. They help the management in bringing about a change. They facilitate the employees to move in a direction which is considered important by them. The leadership that is considered attractive and effective is that kind of leadership that keeps the capacity of persuasion. Effective leaders are always able to motivate people in their set direction. The leaders make people do their suggested jobs, as they exercise a certain power on employees on the basis of their effective motivation and encouragement (Parry and Hansen 2007). There are eleven kinds of leadership styles, as leaders are not all alike. They differ from one another on the basis of their opted strategies for leading people. There are bureaucratic leaders who have well thought-out and considered tasks, these kinds of leaders negate the innovatory ideas as they are stick to some set of rules and principles and also make sure that the principles and laws are not overruled (McGovern, et. al 2008). Another kind of leadership style is charismatic leadership in which, the leaders are mostly interested in inculcating energy and fervor in the employees due to which, they take deep interest in a task. HUMAN RESOURCES Human Resources is a term with which many organizations describe the combination of traditionally administrative personnel functions with performance management, employee relations and resource planning. Human resources is an increasingly prominent field that is taking shape throughout industries and workplaces world wide. Recognizing the fact that people are a companys greatest asset, business leaders across the globe are coming to rely more and more upon an effective management policy that applies specifically to the area of human resources. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT The Human Resources Management is the strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organizations most valued assets the people working there who individually and collectively contribute to the achievement of the objectives of the business. The terms human resources management and human resources have largely replaced the term personnel management as a description of the processes involved in managing people in organizations. Human Resource management is evolving rapidly. Human resource management is both an academic theory and a business practice that addresses the theoretical and practical techniques of managing a workforce. The Human Resources Management (HRM) function includes a variety of activities, and key among them is deciding what staffing needs you have and whether to use independent contractors or hire employees to fill these needs, recruiting and training the best employees, ensuring they are high performers, dealing with performance issues, and ensuring your personnel and management practices conform to various regulations. Activities also include managing your approach to employee benefits and compensation, employee records and personnel policies. The goal of human resource management is to help an organization to meet strategic goals by attracting, and maintaining employees and also to manage them effectively. The key word here perhaps is fit, i.e. a HRM approach seeks to ensure a fit between the management of an organizations employees, and the overall strategic direction of the company (Miller, 1989). HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT The Human Resources Management function provides significant support and advice to line management. The attraction, preservation and development of high caliber people are a source of competitive advantage for businesses. An effective HRM system allows organizations to address human resource issues strategically. This helps the workforce deliver high quality health services, despite internal and external challenges to the organization. A strong human resource management system helps organizations prioritize their organizational and business strategies while effectively managing the changes inherent in health sector reform and decentralization. HRM helps attract and retain competent employees, assists employees and managers in adapting to organizational change, and facilitates the use of technology to determine how and where work is done. HRM is perhaps one of the most misunderstood, but most important management systems. Employees are an organizations most important asset, as well as its most expensive: personnel costs often consume 70-80% of an organizations budget. With a strong and equitable HRM system, employees: Receive compensation that reflects their level of responsibility. Feel more motivated and understand how their work relates to the organizations mission and values. Are more satisfied with their jobs. With a strong and equitable HRM system, organizations: Are better equipped to achieve their goals. Increase the level of employee performance. Save costs through the improved efficiency and productivity of workers. improve their ability to manage change. CHALLENGES FACED BY HRM Workforce diversity As organizations become more diverse, employers have been adapting their human resource practices to reflect those changes. Many organizations today, such as bank of America, have workforce diversity programs. They tend to hire, promote, and retain minorities, encourage vendor diversity; and provide diversity training for employees. Workforce diversity requires employers to be more sensitive to the differences that each group brings to the work setting. For instance, employers may have to shift their philosophy from treating everyone alike to recognizing individual differences and responding to those differences in ways that will ensure employee retention and greater productivity. They must recognize and deal with the different values, needs, interests and expectations of employees. They must avoid any practice or action that can be interpreted as being sexist, racist, or offensive to any particular group and of course must not illegibly discriminate against any employee. Employers a lso must find ways to assist employees in managing work life issues. Contingent workers, issues and HRM All contingent workers are needed to be treated differently in terms of practices and policies. Human resource managers must make sure that contingent workers do not perceive themselves as second class workers as they are not given various amenities such as health and paid leave benefits what full time employees get. So, in this way contingent workers may tend to view their work as not critically important. Accordingly, they may be less loyal, committed to the organization or motivated at the job. When an organization makes its strategic decision to employ a sizeable portion of its workforce from the contingency works, other HRM issues come to the forefront. These include having these virtual employees available when needed, providing scheduling options that meet their needs and making decisions about whether benefits will be offered to the contingent workforce without sufficient planning. When strategic divisions are made, HRM must be an active partner in the discussions. After all, it is HRMs responsibility to locate these temporary workers and bring them into organization. Finally, HRM must be prepared to deal with the potential conflicts between core and contingent workers. The core employees may become envious of the higher pay rates and flexibility in scheduling that the contingent workers receive. FUNCTIONS OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT STAFFING Staffing is the function by which managers build an organization through the recruitment, selection and development of individuals as capable employees. (Definition by Mc Farland, Management Principles and Practices, New York : Macmillan, 1979) The managerial function of staffing is defined as filling positions in the organization structure through identifying workforce requirements, inventorying the people available, recruitment, selection, placement, promotion, appraisal, compensation, and training of needed people. (Definition by Koontz, in L.M. Prasad, Principles and Practice of Management) Staffing is the process of acquiring, developing, employing, appraising, remunerating and retaining people so that right type of people are available at right positions and at right time in the organization. Staffing function is related to employment of personnel of all types managerial as well as operative in the organization. It includes a variety of activities through which an organization tries to ensure that various positions remain filled by the most suitable personnel. This function is performed by every manager in the organization like other managerial functions viz. planning, organizing, directing and controlling though they receive considerable staff assistance in performing staffing function. RECRUITMENT Recruitment is the process of finding and attracting capable applicants for employment. The process begins when new recruits are sought and ends when their applications are submitted. The result is a pool of applicants from which new employees are selected. (Definition by Werther and Davis, in Human Resources and Personnel Management, New York, McGraw Hill,1996) Recruitment is a form of competition. Just as corporations compete to develop, manufacture and market the best product or service, so they must be compete to identify, attract and hire the most qualified people. Recruitment is a business, and it is a big business. (Definition by J.S. Lord, in External and Internal Recruitment, Wayne F. Casico, 1989) Recruitment is process of creating a common platform between the employers and the prospective employees, so that both of them evaluate each other and take a decision which is mutually beneficial. The three important recruitment factors are: Job Specification It is a written statement of qualifications, traits, physical and mental characteristics that an individual must possess to perform the job duties and discharge responsibilities effectively. The first step in the program of job specification is to prepare a list of all jobs in the company and where they are located. The second step is to secure and write up information about each of the jobs in a company. Usually, this information includes: Physical specifications Mental specifications, Emotional and social specifications Behavioral specifications Physical Specifications: Physical specifications include the physical qualifications or physical capacities which vary from job to job. Physical qualifications or capacities include physical features like height, weight, chest, vision, hearing, ability, to lift weight, ability to carry weight, health, age, capacity to use or operate machines, tools, equipment etc. Mental Specifications: Mental specifications include ability to perform, arithmetical calculation, to interpret data, information blue prints, to read electrical circuits, ability to plan, reading abilities, scientific abilities, judgment, ability to concentrate, ability to handle variable factors, general intelligence, memory etc. Emotional and Social Specifications: Emotional and social specifications are more important for the post of managers, supervisors, foremen etc. They include emotional stability, flexibility, and social adaptability in human relationship, personal appearance including dress, posture, poise, features and voice required by the job. Behavioral Specifications: Behavioral specifications play an important role in selecting the candidates for higher level jobs in the organizational hierarchy. This specification seeks to describe the acts of managers rather than the traits that cause the acts. These specifications include judgments, research, creativity, teaching, ability, maturity (capable of accepting responsibility) trial of conciliation, self-reliance (self-starter sticks to own decisions), dominance (giving orders in a personal way) etc. Employee Specifications Job specifications information must be converted into employee specification information in order to know what kind of a person is needed to fill a job. Employee specification is like a brand name which spells that the candidate with a particular employee specification generally possesses the qualities specified under job specification, for example, the employee with the educational qualification of MBA generally knows the concepts, managerial skills like decision-making, inter-personal relationships, leadership etc. Employee specification is useful to find out the suitability of particular class of candidates to a particular job. Thus, employee specification is useful to find out prospective employees (target group) whereas job specification is useful to select the right candidate for a job. Job Description A Job Description is a list of the general tasks, or functions, and responsibilities of a position. Typically, it also includes to whom the position reports, specifications such as the qualifications needed by the person in the job, salary range for the position, etc. A job description is usually developed by conducting a job analysis, which includes examining the tasks and sequences of tasks necessary to perform the job. The analysis looks at the areas of knowledge and skills needed by the job. Note that a role is the set of responsibilities or expected results associated with a job. A job usually includes several roles. Job Analysis Job Analysis is a process to identify and determine in detail the particular job duties and requirements and the relative importance of these duties for a given job. Job Analysis is a process where judgements are made about data collected on a job. An important concept of Job Analysis is that the analysis is conducted of the Job, not the person. While Job Analysis data may be collected from incumbents through interviews or questionnaires, the product of the analysis is a description or specifications of the job, not a description of the person. Methods of Recruitment The following are the different recruitment methods: Internal Search Many large organizations develop their own employees for high level jobs. This is done by posting new job openings and allowing employees to bid for the position. There is nothing inherently better about either internal or external recruitment. However, there are some advantages to internal recruitment. First, internal recruitment may lead to increased morale for employees; the organization is perceived to reward good performance or loyalty. Often, one promotion leads to another vacant position and this chain effect contributes further to increased morale. Another advantage to the firm is that Human Resource data is immediately available for any employee recruited internally. Further, the employees work habits are known and previous performance appraisals are on record. Similarly, an internal recruit will be familiar with the firm. This employee will be familiar with the firms products, clients, organizational policies, and corporate culture. Therefore, the firm might be able to save money insofar as orientation sessions for such an employee may not be necessary. Advertisements Advertisements are one of the oldest and the most popular method of recruitment. This form of recruitment is mainly used for high level jobs like maybe for a vice presidency. Blue collar jobs are hardly advertised and even if they are the company just mentions a post box number where the applicant can communicate. Much details and job specification are not mentioned. Employee Referrals and Recommendations The idea behind employee recommendations as a source of potential applicants is that the present employees may have specific knowledge of the individuals who may be their friends, relatives or acquaintances. If the present employees are reasonably satisfied with their jobs, they communicate these feelings to many persons in their communities. Employment Agencies Many organizations get the information about the prospective candidates through employment agencies. In our country, there are three types of employment agencies : public employment agency, private employment agency and management consulting firms. Campus Placements Many organizations conduct preliminary search of prospective employees by conducting interviews at the campuses of various institutes, universities and colleges. The organization hold interviews on the campus on predetermined date and candidates found suitable are called for further interviews at specified places. Professional Organizations Many professional organizations like labor unions operate placement services for the benefit of their members. These include varied occupations such as industrial engineer, psychologist and seafarer. These organizations also publish job vacancy rosters and distribute it to their members. Unsolicited Applicants The concept of Unsolicited Applicants or Gate Hiring is to select people who approach on their own for employment in the organization. This happens mostly in the case of unskilled and semi-skilled workers. Cyberspace Recruiting It provides access to a worldwide databank of jobs, on line application and information resources through the Internet. One of the benefits of Cyberspace Recruiting is the provision for swift feedback and follow up. Recruitment Alternatives This includes getting the work done through other methods such as Hiring independent contractors, outsourcing a particular department etc. For example, the banking industry will very soon outsource the clearing and cash operations of the bank. SELECTION Selection, as the name implies, picking for hire a subset of workers from the total set of workers who have applied for the job. Selections are done by comparing the requirements of a job with applicants qualifications. An attempt is made to find a round peg for a round hole. In doing so naturally many applicants are rejected. This makes Selection a negative function. The Selection process consists of 8 steps: Initial Screening Completion of Application Form Employment Tests Comprehensive Interview Background Investigation Conditional Job Offer Physical Examination Permanent Job Offer Thus, Selection process is very important as it helps in eliminating poor performers. This programme also helps in identifying people with a hobo syndrome i.e., tendency to frequently change jobs. It is a proven fact that providing potential candidates with accurate and complete information about organizational opportunities and constraints, and the job itself prevents high employee turnover. TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT The act of increasing the skills of an employee for doing a particular job. (Definition by Edwin B. Flippo, Personnel Management, McGraw Hill, 1984) Training is a process of learning a sequence of programmed behaviour. This behaviour, being programmed, is relevant to a specific phenomenon, that is a job. The process of training begins with Socialization and ends with Organization development. Three factors which necessitate continuous training in an organization are technological advances, organizational complexity and human relations. Socialising It is the means through which an employee understands the culture of an organization. This culture includes longstanding and often unwritten rules and regulations which govern the organization and its employees. There are three stages in the socializing process : Pre arrival stage During this stage a person arrives in the organization with a set of values and expectations. Encounter stage During this stage an employee considers the difference between his expectations and the reality. Metamorphosis stage During this stage the employee discovers the changes and adapt to them. Orientation Orientation includes the activities involved in introducing a new employee to the organization and his work unit. It is not unusual to confuse Orientation with Socializing. This programme familiarises an employee with the organizations objectives, history, philosophy, procedures and rules. This helps reduce the initial anxiety faced by new employees. Employee Training Training provides a particular skill set required to do a job. The focus of employee training is on the current job requirements. Employee Development Employee development focuses on unveiling the hidden potential in the employees for future manpower requirements which might need additional competencies. Career Development Career development programs are designed to assist employees in advancing their work lives. The main focus of career development is to provide the necessary information and assessment in helping employees realize their career goals. It is the responsibility of an individual not an organization. Organization development Organization development deals with facilitating changes in the organization. The focus of organization development is to change the attitudes and values of employees according to the organizational strategic directions. Methods of Training Job Rotation Job Rotation involves movement of a manager from one job to another job, from one plan to another plan on a planned basis. The movement is not meant for transfer but, is meant for learning interdependence and broadening the perspective. This helps to develop more co-operative approach to different functions in the organization. Assistant to positions Employees which have potential are made to work under a seasoned and successful manager, often in different areas of the organization. Under the watchful eye of a supportive coach, individuals perform many special duties and serve some special duties and serve some special duties too. All this gives a wide experience to employees and they come across a wide variety of management activities and they are groomed too for assuming the duties of the next level. Committee Assignment This provides an opportunity for the employee to have a say in managerial decision making and to investigate organizational problems. It also helps in increases the employees exposure to other members of the organization, broadens his understanding and make recommendations. Lecture Courses and Seminars This is one of the oldest method of training the employees. Lecture courses and seminars offer an opportunity for managers to acquire knowledge and develop their conceptual and analytical abilities. Simulations Simulations were first introduced at the Harvard Graduate School of Business. Simulation exercises include case study, decision games and role plays. Though it is not possible to simulate the real life exactly in the learning situations, simulated training provides participants an opportunity to learn which may be useful in their actual work situations. Outdoor Training The main motive behind Outdoor Training is to teach the employees the importance of team work. Activities might include trekking, games or surviving in the jungle. The purpose is to condition the employees in various stress related situations. Learning Logs Learning logs is a mechanism which encourages a disciplined approach to learning. It can be focused only on one activity and is usually designed to encourage the writer to explain what happened, how they have reflected on this, what conclusions have they made and what future learning actions they wish to make. Self Development Groups A group of individuals involved in a series of meetings where they discuss their personal development, organizational issues, or individual work problems. Groups may begin operating with a leader who is a process expert and who can act as a facilitator. MAINTENANCE Maintenance is the last phase which puts all the activities into place which further help retain productive employees. Human resource management must ensure a safety and healthy working conditions, caring for employees well being has a major effect on the commitment. It must also be realized that any problem an employee faces in his personal life will ultimately be brought to the workplace. This calls for employee assistance programs, which help individuals deal with stressful life situations. It calls for employee assistance programs such as programs that help individuals deal with stressful life situations. It is concerned with the maintenance of employees commitment and loyalty to the organization. This includes: Employee Health Organizations are obliged to provide employees with a safe and healthful environment. Health is a general statement of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Safety is protection of a persons physical health. The main purpose of health and safety policies is the safe interaction of people and the work environment. Poor working conditions may affect the employee performance badly. Employees may find it difficult to work. It would be too taxing for them to work for longer hours. Accidents and injuries may multiply causing enormous loss to the company. Absence and turnover ratios may grow. A company with a poor safety record may find it difficult to hire and retain skilled labor force. Each and every company need industrial health so that physical, social and mental wellbeing of workers can be promoted and maintained, the productivity and the quality of work can be improved, accidents, injuries, absenteeism, labor turnover can be reduced and workers can be protected against any healt h hazard arising out of work and conditions. Employee Safety The main purpose of employee safety programs in an organization is to prevent work related injuries and accidents. There should not be any physical hazards such as collision and obstruction, equipment, fire, hazards from falling objects. Employee welfare Employee or labor welfare is comprehensive term including various services, benefits and facilities offered to employees by the employer. The welfare amenities are extended in addition to normal wages and the other economic rewards available to employees as per the legal provisions. The working environment in a factory adversely affects the health of employees because of excessive heat or cold, noise, downs, fumes, dust, and lack of sanitation. Such oppressive conditions create health problems for workers. Communication The rules of communication are being rewritten as comprehensive, integrated information networks remove constraints on its uses. Employees should be able to communicate with anyone in the organization, no matter what the hierarchy says. The open communication system breaks down historical organizational pattern flows. They also refine how meetings, negotiations, supervision and water cooler talk are conducted. Human resource management must operate the effective communication programs in the organization and such programs help employees know what is occurring around them and vent frustrations. Employee relations programs should ensure that employees are kept well informed through the companys intranet, bulletin boards, town hall meetings, or teleconferencing and foster an environment where employee voices are heard. Employee relations Employee relations have several major responsibilities and it is divided into employee relations and labor relations. Labor relations involve dealing with the labor unions. In a unionized organization, a specific grievance procedure might be detailed in the labor management contract, and might involve the union, management and the allegedly wronged employee. In an nonunion organization, employee relations specialists perform many tasks. One of their key responsibilities is to ensure that open communication permeates the organization. This entails construction of such an environment where employees talk directly to the supervisors and settle any differences that arise. ER specialists are also intermediaries in helping employees understand rules, policies, procedures etc. Appraisals Performance Appraisal is the systematic evaluation of the individual with regard to his or her performance on the job and his potential for development. The Manhattan Project :: Papers

The Manhattan Project The Manhattan Project was one of the most secretive projects in the history of the United States. It took place during World War II and its purpose was to create a bomb by splitting atoms apart. This project was a success and created one of the most devastating bombs ever used by mankind, the atomic bomb. The president at the time, Harry S. Truman, had to face the many factors that were involved in making the decision to drop the bomb. In this paper I will discuss those and the events leading up to The Manhattan Project. The factors in dropping the bomb can be put into three categories: military, moral and political. I will also go into the scientific means of developing such a weapon. Albert Einstein was living in Germany at the time Hitler came into power. Albert Einstein, Edward Teller, Leo Szilard and the rest of his colleagues wrote a letter in August 1939 to warn the United States that Germany was researching and developing nuclear weapons. They were afraid that once Germany finished building the bomb, they would use it on the United States. (Cayton, Perry, Winkler, 1995, pg. 786) When President Franklin Delano Roosevelt received the letter, he was both amazed and scared. He was amazed that science could make such a devastating weapon, a weapon that could destroy an entire city. President Roosevelt then quickly assembled the Manhattan Project so they could build the bomb before Germany. The Manhattan Project started in 1942 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The name "Manhattan Project" was secretly coded as a United States effort in an attempt to build an atom bomb during World War II. It was named after the Manhattan Engineer District of the US Army Corps of Engineers, because most of the research was done in New York City. In Oak Ridge there were tests for separating a rare Uranium-235 (U-235) an unstable isotope from Uranium-238 (U-238). General Leslie Groves was chosen by President Roosevelt to lead the project. Grove's major task was to build the huge industrial facilities needed to separate the small amounts of rare uranium-235, uranium-238 and plutonium needed for a bomb. He built the facilities on an isolated mesa at Los Alamos, New Mexico. The project employed nearly 129,000 people. But out of those couple of thousands of scientists, there were six scientists who contributed to the project the most: Neils Bohr, Joseph Carter, Glen Seaborg, Enrico Fermi, Richard Feynman, and Albert Einstein.

His work with the senate committee on Indian Affairs Essay

Senator Campbell can be considered as a politician who made the most out of his political assets and political positions so that he can make a difference and contribute especially to his own culture, tradition and heritage. Proof of how he pursued areas focused on his own culture is his efforts and success in becoming the first individual with Indian ancestry and heritage to act as chairman of the Indian Affairs Committee . Senator Campbell was an important politician particularly in the Senate Indian Affairs Committee. This particular committee was something that he served in as chairman for several different years. His first years serving as chairman for the Senate Indian Affairs Committee started on 1997 and ended in 2001. Before Campbell took this position, it was held by John McCain. When he left after his 2001 tenure was over, he was succeeded by Daniel Inouye, whom he replaced as chairman for the same committee after Inouye’s term was over in 2003. From 2003 to 2005, Senator Campbell resumed his chairmanship of the committee, and when his tenure was over, it was McCain who replaced him. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum Another important contribution that Senator Campbell provided is through his role in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. Campbell, who is a former policeman, has always publicly expressed how he is after the safety as well as welfare of the police officers. This is just one of the proofs of Campbell’s efforts to be able to contribute something to the United States police force. The National Law Enforcement Museum was created in 2000 during President Clinton’s term so that the public can be informed about the different aspects of police work and police life through the displays and features of the museum. The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, on the other hand, is important as well because it honors those who are dead but served gallantly as a police officer, giving individuals a chance to get to know more the police officers serving for the US government and those who already served and died in the name of loyal service to the country and to the people . Both of these aspects are strongly supported by Senator Campbell. Because of his work and contributions to making this happen, it was eventually realized. Campbell served as a sheriff’s deputy in Sacramento County. This part of his life attached him intensely to the police officers and to the life of a police officer. He empathized because he experienced things first hand. This empowered Campbell to personally lend a strong helping hand to legislations that can help the police officers and contribute to the development of police officer’s welfare. Actually, Campbell’s authorship of the National Law Enforcement Museum Act, which is also known as the Public Law number 106-492, was just one of the legislations that are focused on police officers since there are also the 2003 Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act and the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Act . Laying all of the things he accomplished for everyone to see, the challenge, according to Campbell, was to follow his footsteps and continue the development of the efforts geared towards police officer safety and welfare .

My Opinion Volkswagen ( Vw ) Made A Very Wise Decision By...

In my opinion Volkswagen (VW) made a very wise decision by choosing Deutsch LA agency to market themselves. The agency focused on informing customers by different advertising techniques such as direct-marketing and digital/interactive marketing. VW used direct-marketing by sending brochures and promotional offers or coupons to the targeted customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 21). There was also use of various TV commercials to let the customers know about different VW models and changing the view of the customers (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 68). Today, people is engaged most of the time in social media or looking for certain information in Google. Deutsch LA agency took advantage of it and made VW reachable to the customers through Facebook and Twitter which allowed the customers to follow them, get information regarding the vehicles and interact directly with the company. Besides, the YouTube video too helped to increase the followers in the social media largely which was a plus point for them (Belch Belch, 2015, p. 68). Advertising is very important for an automotive company such as VW because customers needs to be informed time and again what products have been launched and what offers are they getting. As, advertising is one of the best way to attract customers and interact with them so the automotive companies should be careful while investing their every penny. For example, we can learn a good lesson from VW. They have done some sterling service in bringing together the very diverse strands of work that today qualify as constituting the subject of organisational
